Kingsway's Outdoor Play Facility

Donation protected
Kingsway Primary School has a clear vision for the future of our school and the education of our children. Our vision is a promise to our children and is best summed up by our mission statement:
Inspired to Make a Difference Together.

So that we achieve our shared vision that…
Each child thrives from the moment they arrive.
Our values statements underpin our school culture and the core behaviours that we embrace as a school family.
Our values statements are:
We Care about Togetherness
We nurture, support and show compassion in all that we do; placing children at the heart of our school family.
We Thrive on Difference
We are a vibrant, diverse school family where everyone is welcomed, valued and treated with fairness.
We are Passionate about Learning
We are resilient learners who understand that we learn by making mistakes and we support each other to be the best that we can be.
We are Inspired to Grow
We have limitless ambitions for every member of our school family as we learn, develop and thrive together.

Our values determine how we work together to achieve our vision. They embody who we are as a school and underpin every decision we make. They guide us, ground us and bind us together as ONE school family. A school family making a difference TOGETHER.

Why do we want to undertake this project?
Currently, 40% of our children qualify for free school meals and this indicates the impact that the cost-of-living crisis is having on our families. We feel that the development of an all-weather outdoor facility at Kingsway will break down learning barriers, foster healthier lifestyles and show our children that an active life will improve our emotional well-being.

We are currently unable to use our outdoor field space due to it being water-logged and marshy all year round. As a school, we are very proud of the inclusive nature of our curriculum however, we are unable to access to our school field and cannot provide equal opportunities for everyone to play sports outside.

What would the outcomes of the project be?

  • We believe that providing our children with the opportunity to play and learn outside, both during term time and in the school holidays, will result in them having a positive outlook on life, allow them to develop friendships, communicate effectively with others and understand that if we get outside every day, this will help us to feel happy.

  • This outdoor play facility would provide a space where children can play together regardless of their ability. Despite being a small school, we have extensive school grounds with lots of potential however this is unutilised. Our children currently play outside on tarmac and whilst we try very hard to make this as appealing as possible, it could be so much better for everyone.

  • The all-weather pitch will offer a state-of-the-art space for our pupils but it will also serve as a resource for local teams and community projects fostering community engagement among the residents of Urmston and Davyhulme. This shared space will promote unity, reduce anti-social behaviour, and foster positive relationships. Our local coaches and community team leaders are excited about this project too and have already committed their time to providing opportunities for sporting activities.
