Kinlee June’s New Hearing Aids
Donation protected
We have had many people inquire about helping Kinlee June get new hearing aids or say they would love to donate. I'm setting my pride aside so I can help Kinlee June get the new hearing aids she needs and that she keeps asking for. We appreciate every share and donation that will go towards Kinlees new hearing aids.
Kinlee June has had her hearing aids since she was a little younger than a year old. She was born with mild bilateral sensorineural hearing lost that dropped to the moderate to severe range around age 3. June is 1/3 of children that they don't know why she has hearing loss Since genetic and anatomy testing showed everything is normal. The doctors don't know if her hearing could one day fully go away or remain the same and just drop here and there. Right now Kinlee June sees audiology every 6 months or earlier if needed for hearing test, aid adjustments, and new molds ($400-$500 every 6 months or more depending on growth and quality). None of which is covered by insurance or new hearing aids. They should be replaced every 5 years and junes is almost 7 years old. When in large gatherings, parties, the fair, and such Kinlee June has a hard time hearing us due to all the noise dumping in at once and no ability to sort them. Which is scary and a bit stressful for all. With the new hearing aids, we would have a special device that we wear and we could press a button so only our voice would feed into her ears. Also, she would have volume control. This would allow her to adjust her volume instead of having to take them out in situations that are to loud or overwhelming. We let others see what she hears often and even for those few mins they say it's alot. Another thing is that new technology has made hearing aids bluetooth. This means no more removing hearing aids and using headphones on max volume for school or tablets, the privacy and normal use of a phone instead of using speaker. we also have a choice of battery or chargeable. We are told the port is very fragile, plus the charge depleats quick over time. So it would be best to go with battery operated ones like we have now. Insurance doesn't cover batteries either and let me just say batteries are not cheap and we can go through 1-2 sets a week. We have to supply the school and home with them. I don't want to have to ask for help it's so hard to ask for help. But insurance will literally cover everything except hearing aides! How is it even fair to make a person go without hearing due to how expensive aids, supplies, maintenance, and appointments are. I pray that one day waterproof ones are made for the hearing loss community.
