Kinsley Kicks Cancer

Donation protected
As many of you know, our world was flipped upside down again on March 9, 2022. Kinsley had been off chemotherapy since October 2020. She was loving preschool, Megan had been working again and life was starting to feel “normal.” Fast forward to the beginning of March and Kinsley had what appeared to be a “stomach bug.” She was throwing up, sleepy and would complain of a headache. All symptoms pointed to dehydration so Megan took her to the pediatrician. Given Kinsley’s history they checked multiple labs and swabbed for multiple viruses, all results were normal. Megan monitored Kinsley’s heart rate while she was sleeping March 7 and noticed it was lower than usual. Originally was not too worried about that due to the fact she had never previously monitored her heart rate at night unless she was sick. The next day, they brought Kinsley to the emergency room at Children’s of Alabama. There they did a CT scan to rule out the cause of her headaches. The CT showed ventriculomegaly, meaning her ventricles in her brain were enlarged due to too much CSF (brain and spinal fluid) collecting. At this point our #1 fear was leukemia relapse in her CSF, the best option was for it not to be relapse and for Kinsley to need brain surgery to fix the issue. It was hard to imagine needing brain surgery was the best possible option. The next day, Kinsley was put to sleep for an MRI to get a better look at her brain. At this time a lumbar puncture was done to test the CSF for leukemia cells, as well as a bone marrow aspiration to see if there was leukemia in her marrow as well. Wednesday, March 9th our biggest fears came true. Kinsley had relapsed. Her bone marrow showed no leukemia but her CSF was positive. This came as a devastating blow to the Green family as their semblance of “normal” they were getting back to was immediately shattered. Now our sweet girl who has already been through more than any one person, let alone child, should have to go through in a lifetime is back to square one with another fight for her life. She had surgery March 10th for another port to be placed for treatment as well as her first chemotherapy directly into her CSF through a lumbar puncture. She is now currently at the beginning of another 2 year fight. As you know, we covet your prayers more than anything at this time, but many people have asked what they could do so we created this so that anyone who feels led to donate has a place to. Thank you most of all for praying for our girl!
