As many of you already know, our dear friend, Kip Enfinger, lost his mother, Melinda Lopez, very unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 10, 2017. Melinda was a magnet. She was so full of life. She sparkled. Radiated. Dazzled. She lived a big life, with a big smile, and a BIG heart. And if you knew her, you were truly better because of it.
If you know Kippy, then you probably consider him to be one of your very best friends. Family, even. If you do not know him, allow me to tell you a little bit about this man.
Kip is the friend that my husband calls when he needs something - before he even calls me. Kip is the friend that let me borrow his car for a while when we did not have one, and I needed to go on job interviews. He vacuumed it so that I wouldn’t get dog hair on my black dress. Kip is the friend that didn’t lend us money, but GAVE us money when we were in a bind. Kip is the friend that takes the blame so that you can save face. Kip is the friend that bails you out - literally and figuratively. Kip is the friend that picks up the check…every single time. Kip is the friend who changes his life around so that yours can be easier. Those are things he has done for us, but also for complete strangers.
Kip has known loss, and because of that, he is quite aware of how very precious our time here is. He knows that the most important thing in this life is the people we love and share it with. I have never ( and this is no exaggeration) had a conversation or text with him where he did not tell me how much he loved me and my family, and ended it with, “squeeze those babies.” I have reflected upon that a lot this past week. It has brought me much comfort to know that Melinda absolutely knew that her son loved her so much..that he never missed an opportunity to tell her that.
Because of Kip’s big heart and big love, he is staying in Dothan to take care of his dad, as well as the headache and heartache that come with legal obligations. Kip's precious sister, Gabriela, is leaving her home and life in Los Angeles to be in Dothan as well. They could certainly use your support as they face the burden of upcoming financial stresses. These empty homes in Birmingham and Los Angeles still have rent and utility bills that do not stop just because Kip and Gabriela's world did. Thank you so much for anything you can give.
