kippers recovery from surgery
Donation protected
I came home August, 2022 to find Kipper (my best friend of 9 years) could not stand up. I rushed him to the ER. We found out; he had herniated discs. We have no idea what happened. Kipper had the surgery. The cost was $8,000.00. We maxed our credit cards out to pay for it. But we wanted the best for our baby.
After the surgery, Kipper still could not stand or walk. They said he would need a major amount of therapy. We tried Acupuncture to start with, but with no results. We started water treadmill and that has helped a lot. He was going twice a week, but the cost was too much. Now he goes once a week. He also gets stretche and massage therapy.
Kipper can, very unsteadily, get up on his own now and stand for a couple of minutes!!! The water therapy and exercises are helping! We take him to the dog park to help him with exercising and toss the ball to him while at home. We are trying everything we can. He does a little better while on grass and carpet. But he tends to drag himself a lot. He was donated a wheelchair.
He does not know when he urinates or has a bowel movement. He has no feeling from the middle of his back to his tail. Luckily, he has some feeling in his legs. But if he doesn’t go on his own, we have to express him. The supplies to keep him clean and sanitary and to keep the house super clean for him, is getting super expensive. We recently had to start buying the giant-sized washable pee pads because he is a big dog and drags himself around a lot and the pee pads do not last very long.
The vets said Kipper will never fully recover but has a very good chance, with continued therapy, to be able to continue to get up on his own, will be able to stand for a longer period and will gradually take more and more steps. Unfortunately, the cost of water therapy is $400 for 5 visits. I have maxed out all credit cards and any previously small donations friends and family helped with expenses.
I recently had a car accident and currently not working full time. I try to take odd jobs to help pay for expenses. With the cost of water therapy and supplies and taking him back and forth to the vet, I’m maxed out and need help. I’m never going to give up on my boy and I want the best for him and want him happy. He has the best personality and is happy all the time despite what happened him.
If anyone would like to donate directly to the clinic Kipper goes to for therapy, that would be greatly appreciated. He goes to Countryside Veterinarian Services. They are located at W3022 Edgewood Trail, Appleton, WI 54913. The phone number is [phone redacted]. His name is Kipper and my name is Matt Thurber. And they accept donations for his therapy.
Also my paypal is [email redacted]. Zelle is the same email address.
We are doing the best we can but have simply run out of money. We will not give up on Kipper, ever. I’ve had him since he was a baby. He is the apple of my eye. But I need help with his medical. Thank you everyone for taking the time to read about my boy.
