Kiran's Volunteer Prj. for St. Francis Living
Donation protected
I'm interested in Health and Wellness and was recently looking for a summer volunteer job in San Francisco, where I live with my Dad (Martin Echavarria) in the summers. Because of Covid-19, unfortunately there were no opportunities for me.
However, Johnathan Lowell from St. Francis Living Room whom I connected with, did share they would accept donations of unopened jars of peanut butter and jam for the toast and PB&J sandwiches which they give out. Also, they are in need of personal sized soap, shampoo, toothpaste and hand sanitizer, and also masks, for distribution to people in need.
I am hoping to receive monetary donations so I can go to the dollar store on weekends and buy donatable items for the elderly poor and homeless in San Francisco who are struggling with Covid-19 and will benefit from these donations.
I will need the funds for the next 6 weeks of my summer break, my dad will be taking me to the dollar store every weekend.
As part of this project, I am working to get the Gates Scholarship for exceptional students (in 2023) in order for me to start my career in medicine and the sciences because of my dedication to human wellness and health.
This project is meaningful for me because it is the beginning of my journey helping others. I will be super grateful more for the impact that it will make for others in my community then for myself personally. This Covid-19 situation has been hard for me as a 15 year old and at least I feel I am doing something to make things better for others.
