Friends and family,
We are finally sharing some important life events that we’ve been going through. We thought we could just keep this to ourselves and get through it, but the cat is out of the bag so we are letting it loose.
My dad, the man, the myth, the legend, Kirby Kelley, has been facing some very difficult health issues for the last year. It started with some blood clotting in his leg which ultimately ended up with him in the hospital. It was there that a series of tests determined our worst fears, we were not only dealing with blood clots, but there were some masses both on his brain and lungs. These masses tested positive for cancer, stage 4. Since the diagnosis, he has undergone many treatments and procedures not limited to multiple thrombectomys to remove the clots, a filter put in to stop them from traveling, radiation of his brain and lungs, and chemo treatments. Through all of this, he also contracted Covid which took a nasty turn into double pneumonia, resulting in yet another hospital stay. We are still battling the aftermath of the Covid pneumonia along with continuing treatments for the cancer.
If any of you know my parents, you know they are some of the kindest, selfless, and most giving people you’ll ever know and now they need our help. My dad has been a professional musician and esteemed guitar teacher for most of his life & unfortunately all of this has left him unable to do either of these on a professional level. My mom is now spending her time managing care for him and appointments. This has created a financial burden that I would love to see lifted from them. If you can help by giving or even just sharing this post, we are so incredibly grateful.
Please don’t be offended if you’re just hearing about this, as we truly tried to keep it under wraps and power through it on our own, but we found out that the support and love of our friends and family helps get us through! If you’d like to reach out to them, please do so through text as it is very difficult for my dad to talk. They are overwhelmed with the outpouring of love so it may also take time for them to get back with you. We are also limiting visitors at this time.
Thank you for your time in reading this lengthy post! We love you all!
