Kirk Gardner

Hi, my name is Kip Kokinakis, and we have established this GoFundMe, to support Kirk Gardner (“ Captain Kirk”) in his daily needs while he faces his most daunting life challenge. Kirk is facing Surgery to remove a cancerous tumor on the brain. He needs our help to meet his monthly obligations. His needs are modest and can be achieved with a bit of help from his friends and family. By supporting him, we free him to dedicate his time to fighting for survival.

Kirk, on the surface, is an ordinary man, a regular guy with a zest for life. I have gotten to know him as we first worked together and later became partners sharing a common vision. I have learned that this regular guy has a unique wit and humor that touches everyone he meets. Even a few minutes with the” Captain” guarantees unforgettable moments. His brand of decency, trust and loyalty are beyond exceptional. He is an inspirational character at a time when we are surrounded by a divisive, petty culture that only sees “me first.” Kirk truly loves his fellow man.

Through this friendship, I have learned much about his colorful past and life adventures. I have also regrettably known of his continued battle with Cancer, most likely acquired due to the workplace. Over ten years, he has battled prostate Cancer to remission on at least two occasions. Now a more significant challenge is before him, a re-emergence of original cancer and the more imminent danger of a brain tumor that requires an immediate operation.

He is staring down this latest challenge with his usual optimism; he is fully engaged and leading the charge to defeat the disease. He has secured a medical team of some of the best in the nation to fight this disease, the Moffitt Cancer Center. They will become fully engaged with him to tackle the task step by step. They are making a bet! It begins Thursday this week.
