I'm goin' to Graz!
Donation protected
Dear Friends and Family,
After a rigorous audition process, I am pleased to announce that I have been accepted to the American Institute of Musical Studies (AIMS) Graz 2015 Opera Studio! Although I had a list of potential summer programs to apply for, AIMS Graz was my first choice and I am SO EXCITED to have been accepted. I am incredibly grateful to have been given this opportunity to study abroad with an international faculty, gain new knowledge and skills, and network!
The intention of the AIMS Program is to prepare selected singers for a professional career in opera/stage performance. This six week (yes, six weeks in Europe!!) intensive program consists of bi-weekly private vocal lessons and coachings, daily conversational German language study, singers' diction coachings (German, Italian, French, English, and Russian), Master Classes, Stage/Artistry & Movement classes, and training seminars. On a side note: I am especially excited about the prospect of attending a Master Class led by Soprano, Barbara Bonney (I am a huge fan of hers!). I will also be offered the opportunity to perform in recitals, special events, concerts with the AIMS Festival Orchestra, and to compete in the Meistersinger Vocal Competition.
The cost consists of a $6,695 Tuition fee (due May 15, 2015) and the cost of airfare from Alaska. The tuition fee includes accomodation, two meals daily, health insurance while in Austria, and of course, the cost of the program. Although I have not yet made flight arrangements, I have included in my goal figure the amount I anticipate paying for airfare/transportation.
As most of you know, I have spent the past year and a half working towards the completion of a Master of Music Degree in Vocal Performance at the Unversity of Alaska Fairbanks. The experience of being a Graduate Student and Teaching Assistant has been wonderfully enlightening to me, and I anticipate a successful graduation in May 2015. I am very much looking forward to switching gears after graduation, and being able to focus entirely on my performance career and my craft while in Europe! Any financial support that you would be willing to offer me will be a great help, and receive my utmost gratitude.
Should you choose to offer me your financial support, you also have the option of making a donation to me via the AIMS Scholarship Fund. As a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization, cash gifts to AIMS are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law. To take this route (rather than this gofundme page) you may follow this link: Make a Tax-Deductible Donation and follow the steps to checkout. Once you reach checkout, you need only enter my name in the "Participant's Name" text box to make your donation in my favor. Upon your request, I am able to provide a letter from the AIMS Program certifying my acceptance. Please let me know if you choose to take that option, and I will adjust this page to reflect those donations. Please note: The AIMS Scholarship Fund donations will go specifically towards costs directly related to AIMS (the tuition fees), and although they will distribute any remaining funds to me upon my arrival in Graz, these donations will not be counted towards the flight arrangements I hope to make.
Thank you so much for your time and consideration. Please feel free to check-out the AIMS Graz webpage for additional information on the program, or to contact me with any questions you may have. In addition to being eternally grateful for your support, I am more than happy to repay your donation with some singing. Let me know if you are interested in that, and we can make those arrangements! I am full of hope that I will be able to raise the necessary funds in some way, and be able to attend this amazing program.
With love,
Kirsten Ann Hutchinson
