Kirstin’s England World Cup Selection

As you all may or may not be aware, I have been selected to represent England at the Indoor Cricket World Cup in Colombo, Sri Lanka in September 2024.

After thinking my competitive career was starting to come to an end after heart surgery at age 21 and then a serious knee injury requiring surgery in August 2021, never did I think I would get a chance like this again.

I currently play hardball cricket in my local men’s 1st XI and captain the local ladies hardball team.

Having never played much competitive indoor cricket I decided to try my hand at it and attended the Masters (over 30s - yes I am now officially old!) trials. I was successful and have been selected for the squad to travel and play for my country in Sri Lanka.

The tournament will see England competing against some of the best teams in the world including Sri Lanka, Australia, South Africa and the UAE.

As Indoor cricket is an amateur sport, each player has to fund the trip themselves and the whole trip is going to cost in excess of £2500.

This amount includes flights, accommodation, transport to and from the airport/hotel/venue, training/match kit and equipment, team doctor and physio, managers, coaches, and tournament entry fees.

Any contributions would be hugely appreciated and really will make a difference to help me achieve my dream of pulling on an England shirt and representing my country.
