Kise family fighting colon cancer

Donation protected

My mom, Lena Kise, is a real-life superwoman. She has been through everything imaginable in her 49 years. She has has made a beautiful family with her husband and my dad, Joey Kise. Together they have four children, Michael, 31, Stephen, 29, Emily, 22, and myself, Sarah, 20. About a month ago my mom was having trouble with her bowel movements. She had been told by a doctor in Marion that what she had was a bowl impaction. She was then sent home with magnesium citrate and laxatives, but there was no progress. On Saturday, July 14, a woman who’s given birth 4 times without once using an epidural, has had an emergency hysterectomy, and has worked as a correctional officer for 25+ years, could no longer take the pain. She and my dad drove an hour to Riverside Methodist Hospital where the 3 inch tumor was found in her colon after taking a CT scan. This is when my family started to realize that things were a much bigger deal than we had initially thought. The next day, my mom was given a colonoscopy and a biopsy where they had to do a procedure to remove a portion of the tumor. This was the day she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer. Later this week, she is going to start her treatment so we do not waste any time. The next 5-7 weeks of chemo therapy and radiation are going to be hard. She’s going to need a lot of support from family and friends. We ask that you help in any way possible, any amount is greatly appreciated. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. Love, the Kise family.
