Kishauna's Fight Against Stage 4 Cancer
Donation protected
My name is Kishauna "Shaun Jai" Jarmon and I am fighting STAGE 4 CANCER! For four years I complained to doctor after doctor about my stomach pains. Over and over again I heard "lose weight, lose weight, lose weight". Even after I took their advice and lost 100 pounds another doctor looked at me and said once again "lose weight". For four years I complained, being vigilant about my health by going to the doctors, asking questions, changing my eating habits, walking on a daily basis, I even created "Dance Therapy" from dancing on a daily basis in my living room. From 2019 until 2023 I was vigilant about my health!!! I never knew that I could request a PET scan and I was never offered one by the doctors. After 4 years of hearing "lose weight" I finally found a doctor that took my concerns seriously and I finally received a PET scan.
On April 6, 2023, my life took an unexpected turn when I was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. Not only was the cancer in stage 4, it had spread throughout my body to 3 other places. I was told if I did nothing I would have less than a year to live. I choose to fight! And I am still fighting!!!
June 2, 2023 I began chemotherapy treatments, in December 2023 I started immunotherapy and on April 8, 2024 I completed my last round radiation treatments. I rang THREE bells, surely that should have been the end but on June 9, 2024 I received a call from my doctor suggesting that I complete another two years of treatments. On July, 2, 2024 I will start my next round of treatments. This is not the news that I wanted to hear but here we are and I say "we" because it takes a village! I can't fight this battle alone. Once again I am calling on my tribe to keep me lifted up in your positive thoughts, prayers and high vibrational energy.
As if cancer was not enough. On October 1, 2024, I was diagnosed with diabetes as a result of the cancer treatments. The treatments that helped to keep me alive has now compromised my pancreas causing me to now rely on insulin. I now have to check my glucose levels throughout the day and inject myself with insulin four times a day to sustain life. Despite all the changes, I’m still fighting. I’ve had to pause my travels to adjust to this new reality, but I remain determined to one day travel again.
A little about me:
First and foremost, I am a mother of a beautiful 18 year old daughter. Ryan "Jadyn" is my heart, my whole heart. I remember asking The Most High to please let me see her 18th birthday. I saw my baby girl turn 18, plus go to the prom and walk across the stage to receive her high school diploma. Now I am helping her pick out a college and decide if she should stay on campus or off. It's a little nerve wrecking but I get to see it and be apart of it. God is good!!! Outside of my home I have served my community for over 20 years, teaching the youth how to model and dance. My motto is "Confidence looks up and not down". I have produced fashion shows and other community events to bring awareness to teen suicide. I also fed the homeless and provided coat, jeans, purses (Blessings in a Bag) and blankets. I am passionate about fashion, graphics, and my community! In September 2023 I received the Joe Bidan "President's Award" for my community service. That was one of the most exciting days of my life.
The Journey So Far:
Since my diagnosis, my world has been turned upside down. The physical and emotional toll of fighting cancer is immense, and it has been overwhelming for both myself and my loved ones. While I have strived to be financially responsible, the necessary lifestyle adjustments have created an enormous financial strain that I was ill-prepared for.
