Kit and Josefa Carson Headstone Replacment
Want to join us in making a difference? We are raising money for Kit Carson Home & Museum Inc, and any donation will help make impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to .
Kit and Josefa both died in the spring of 1868. Over the 150 years the gravestones have weathered and some of the information is incorrect.
A plan has been developed to use local marble or granite for this purpose. The marble or granite will be mined in Taos County, New Mexico. The raw stone will be cut from the mountain and transported to local stone cutters for shaping, polishing and engraving.
The new stones will be revealed at the Carson/Jaramillo Family Reunion on July 20 and 21, 2019. The reunion will take place in the picnic area of Kit Carson Park with some activities at the Carson Hme and Museum.
