When I opened Kit, all I wanted to make the world a better place with cookies and support my family.

 

After becoming a single parent after opening the first iteration of KitCafe and our

first pop up location closing, I wasn’t

sure which direction to go with the project

and my career. Exactly three years ago, the stars aligned and I took the leap to open a cafe on my own, focusing on making all of our own baked goods from scratch,

excellent espresso drinks and providing a warm and beautiful welcoming, and inclusive 

community space.

 

Since then, we’ve persevered through my own major injuries, relying on my amazing staff to stear the daily operations, then everything we dealt with due to Covid lockdowns and necessary restrictions, and the latest hit of losing product and sales due to the days long power outage this past month caused by the Derocho storm.

 

We are only one of many small businesses struggling after these past two years. I’m not ready to give up this dream and close the doors to this business that was built with all of your help. I want to be here to be a place where you all can come and experience just a bite or sip of joy in the crazy, hard, and sometimes hopeless-feeling world right now, and I’m not ready to give that up yet, and with help from this community, I’m hoping I won’t have to. 

 

Over the last two years, like many others, Kit as a business took on significant debt to stay open during shutdowns, restrictions and to fund the staffing needed to keep Kit running while I spent the better part of 2 years unable to work on the floor of the cafe due to injuries. This campaign will help pay off a portion of these loans, get some much needed repairs done, and will be enough to keep our cash flow available to keep the cafe open and producing the pasties and coffee you all love.
