Kito's Lifesaving Heartworm Surgery
Donation protected
Kito is a 3 year old little guy who was rescued from living on a chain his whole life. He had heavy locks hanging from his neck and he probably never felt love or kindness, he was terrified and defensive to people who wanted to help him.
Kito before rescue
Kito finally got a chance to experience pet life, warmth and love.. But we found out he is heartworm positive. Unfortunately heartworm infection numbers are rising in Hungary and many adult dogs who we rescue are affected by it....
However, Kito's case is a bit different. As the ultrasound shows, he is already at a very advanced stage, with fully developed adults worms in his artery, traveling towards his heart. If these worms reach the heart, he will go into stage 4 and would likely not survive. Therefore removing the adult worms before they can reach his heart is critical not only for his wellbeing, but for his survival...
Kito with his foster siblings
Kito is currently on a waiting list to get his life-saving surgery, with a waiting time between 2 weeks - 3 months. We need to make sure we have the funds ready by the time we get the call that they can operate on him, so we do not need to delay his treatment. With the amount of sick and injured animals that are rescued by FAPF every single day without any government support, the organisation simply cannot afford to pay for such an expensive treatment. We want to give all of our dogs the best fighting chance and the best treatment possible, but for this we need your help.
The surgery itself will cost 380,000 huf (1076 euros). On top of this, the dog needs 3 ultrasounds (one before, one right after and a check up a few weeks later, each costing 60 euros).
Additionally, the dogs need to take 7 different medications for the next seven months following the treatment. (Out of these medications, Vetmedin is the most expensive, costing 230 euros).
We are very grateful for any donations and support, even if it's just the price of one coffee or a chocolate bar, it could be a case of life or death for our sweet Kito.
He is full of life and love, and he is not ready at all to give up. This dog has completely won my heart with his clownish antics, wiggly cuddles and enthusiasm for life. I will keep everyone updated about his heartworm journey and maybe through the videos, you will be able to feel a fraction of the joy he brings with him every single day. It would absolutely break our hearts if we can't help him get healthy and find his forever family.
Thank you in advance for all the help and I will post updates as soon as we have any news about his surgery. I will also attach the bills once we have them.
