Kitt's Journey to the Mayo Clinic

On May 21st, 2018 Kitt was sent to the ER by her primary care doctor for a severe infection. After 6 days and a multitude of tests to understand why the infection had also attacked her heart, the doctors at Chandler Regional deemed it a viral infection but could not figure out what strain due to the thousands of possibilities. The infection affected her brain, her heart, her stomach, her vision, and most of her nervous system. After that Kitt took two months off work to be on bed rest because her body was not recovering from the infection. It took her three weeks to be able to walk without collapsing and even longer to do anything more strenuous without her heart rate going tachycardia.

 
Kitt has since been in and out of the hospital 10 times, has been to over 40 doctors’ appointments, and under gone many tests. She still has no concrete diagnosis and many doctors cannot agree on a course of action.


She could tell that the longer she went without an answer the more her body was deteriorating.

 
But finally, after losing almost all hope, Kitt got some exciting news that after 6 months on a waiting list she finally got into the one doctor she was told could help her recover from this at the Mayo Clinic. As excited as Kitt is to finally get into the one place she has been begging to get into for months and shed lots of tears over she realized that he was not in network with her insurance. She would give anything to have a piece of her life back, so she knows that no matter the cost she must make it to the appointment on April 23rd.

 
Any help would be greatly appreciated so that Kitt may begin her journey of healing and finally know why her body has been failing her every day.

 
May 21st, 2018 may have changed Kitt’s life, but she will continue to fight for an answer and be grateful that she is still alive and surrounded by family and friends.
