Please Help My Sweet Kitten With A Life-Saving Surgery

Donation protected

I rescued Sasha from the Arizona Humane Society 3 weeks ago. I noticed she was breathing heavily. The vet assumed URI but after two types of antibiotics and no improvement I took her to the emergency room (no vet was available) and an X-ray showed she has peritoneal-pericardial diaphragmatic hernia (PPDH). This is a congenital issue where her organs are in her chest cavity.

This requires immediate surgery, which I have been quoted $4500-$6000, or the alternative is putting her to sleep.

She is an incredible cat—sweet, loving, and excitable. She’s bonded we me and my husband, and with my other kitten.

I’ve already spent $1000 in trying to get a diagnosis. Insurance won’t cover this since it’s considered pre-existing (congenital). Even then, I only recently purchased the insurance and we are still in the waiting period for it to kick in.

Any financial help — $5 here and there — would help immensely. ALL money will go toward the cost of surgery, part of which I’m covering myself since the total, all in, is $5500 to $7000.

The good news is this surgery is life-saving and has an incredibly positive prognosis. Once it’s completed, she can live a long and happy life.
