Kitten Needs A Chance
Hi, my name is Becca and on Sunday August 1st, I took in a very sick stray kitten. He was found very weak, pale, and extremely skinny. He was immediately taken to the emergency vet where he was diagnosed with flea anemia and received a blood transfusion. I picked him up the next day and he looked like a whole new kitten. He was eating, drinking, walking around, and he quickly became attached to me. I was never planning on keeping him because I already have too many pets, so I reached out to a shelter who will take him into their care this week.
He was named Rooster. Rooster was doing so well over the last week. He explored his temporary home, tolerated the dogs, cuddled with me 20 hours a day, followed me everywhere, and occasionally used the litter box(it's a start). However, today(August 8th), while resting on my lap, Rooster began seizing. He was immediately rushed back to the hospital. The veterinarian said that his blood sugar was too low to read. This came as a shock to me because of how much he was eating and the fact that he had just eaten about 30 minutes prior to the seizure.
The veterinarian began talking about his overall concerns with Rooster. He thought that Rooster seemed skinnier(which again shocked me with how much the little guy eats), that there was fluid in his stomach, and that there may be something more serious going on beneath all of that causing these issues. For now, he is hospitalized overnight there and is receiving fluids and dextrose to help his blood sugar. However, the vet doesn't seem to have high hopes for a long life for Rooster.
When I took him in, I took full financial responsibility for him. I knew that this would be costly, but wasn't too incredibly worried after the initial hospital visit because he was doing so well. Now, it is getting to be more expensive than I was thinking. With him not going to the rescue until later this week, I am still responsible for his medical bills. I wasn't planning on asking for donations because I took him in voluntarily, but now I decided to at least try and put the word out there.
If you are able in any way to donate to his medical bills, that would be absolutely amazing and Rooster and I will be forever grateful. I want to give this kitten the best chance I can at a normal, loving life. He has been such a wonderful kitten, and he deserves a chance. Anything is appreciated and will go directly toward his medical bills.
If you prefer to donate anonymously and want to contact the emergency vet directly, he is at MedVet Dayton, under my name.
If you are not able to donate, please share his story as much as possible. I know now is a very hard time for everyone.
On Behalf of Rooster and I, thank you.
