Help Pay for Cannoli's Eye Surgery
Tax deductible
Cannoli was 8 weeks old, weighed 30 ozs and had run out of time. No other rescues offered to take him. We were contacted directly by the shelter asking if Cats Pawjamas could take him in
a last minute attempt to save him.
He was transported to us (a 3 hour drive) by other kind volunteers and we got to work. The first order of the day was to get him comfortable and resolve his viral symptoms. We have extensive experience treating cats with eye damage resulting from the Calicivirus. However, despite our best efforts, we were only able to save one. (But look how healthy his left eye looks!)
At 2lbs, 4oz he was healthy enough for surgery. Our wonderful veterinarian performed the eye removal for half price! (And threw in his neuter ).
Had we had it done by an animal opthalmologist it would have cost almost $2000!
But even at half price, we need help! We will save about 130 cats and kittens this year and $1000 is a lot of money! Without your help, we won't be able to save the next kitten like Cannoli.
The happy ending to the story is that while Cannoli has some healing to do, he's healthy and happy and playing with the other kittens in his foster home! We've had blind kittens that are living their best lives, a one-eyed kitten won't even notice!
If everyone who sees this donates $20, we can pay for Cannoli's surgery and have funds available for the next kitten needing help. You can help save a kitten from dying with your $20 donation (we won't argue if you want to donate more).
We have another major surgery scheduled for Thursday. Our sweet Bravo is getting his front leg amputated. He'll adjust quickly. But we have no idea what the bill will be. Regardless of the cost, the surgery must be done.
Cats Pawjamas Rescue Society is a small, 501(c)3 cat and kitten rescue. While we accept a varied population, we target ill and injured kittens at risk of euthanasia at a regional animal control facility.
We are a foster based rescue. Meaning 11 volunteers care for our 65 cats and kittens in their homes. We know these kitten's personalities and quirks which helps us find them the best home possible. Some stay with us for an extended time in order to recover from their illness or injury.
Approximately 80% of the cats and kittens that enter our rescue need some sort of medical intervention. It can range from minimal, like administering fluids, b-12 and giving the kitten time to gain weight and de-stress to major surgeries.
Our adoption fees cover the normal expenses of food, litter and fixing all the cats and kittens. We count on donations and the generosity of our veterinary partners to be able to help the kittens that will be first in line to be euthanized due to their medical challenges.
We also accept donations via Venmo (@Cats-Pawjamas), PayPal (@catspawjamas) and on our website. Thank you!
Please spay and neuter your pets! Cats can become pregnant as early as 5 months and kittens can be fixed as early as 2 lbs or 8 weeks of age. If more people fixed their cats, rescuers like us wouldn't be so tired
