Kiwanis Helps the Homeless

Want to join me in making a difference? We are raising money to benefit FONDATION KIWANIS LAKESHORE INC. / KIWANIS LAKESHORE FOUNDATION INC., and any donation will help make an impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to us.  For over 60 years Kiwanis Lakeshore has been raising funds to help children and youth in Montreal's West Island.  The Covid pandemic has obliged us to cancel our community fundraising events as the tremendous needs of our beneficiaries continue. Through this fundraiser we wish to assist Ricochet in helping homeless youth. Youth homelessness is an acute  problem requiring a hopeful and ongoing solution.  AJOI(Action Jeuness de Ouest de l'ILe)created Ricochet in 2017 who mission is to create housing solutions for young adults between the ages of 18 and 35 who are struggling with residential instability.   Richochet possesses a dynamic team committed to improving the quality of life  of the people whom they fervently serve.  The situation is very dire.  In addition to youth entering society ill equipped with life skills to meet basic needs there are numerous people living in overcrowded apartments, women  who exchange sexual favours for a roof over their heads, and men who sleep in their vehicles or makeshift shelters in wooded areas.  Ricochet wishes to become the owner of a 14 unit social housing building for which they have a conditional commitment from SHQ.  As well, Ricochet offers community support  to young adults to help them develop skills to achieve long term residential stability.  Kiwanis is limited in what we can accomplish without external support.  We need your help to get there and thank you for answering the call to uplift this needy community.   We invite you to learn more about the continued community support initiatives at our Kiwanis website www.lakeshorekiwanis.ca Uncategorized Launch of the West Island Drop-in Shelter By West Island Blog - November 9, 2020 12:22 pm0 Facebook Twitter Action Jeunesse de l’Ouest-de-l’Île (AJOI) and Ricochet are very proud to present the first Drop-In Shelter on the West Island of Montreal in Pierrefonds-Roxboro or Lachine.
