Emma's Medical Journey

Hello everyone,

First and foremost, Emma and I are beyond thankful for how everyone in our communities (Fort Collins, TMH, PFA, and beyond) wrapped their arms around us during this time. We couldn't get through this without all of you.

As Emma's recovery continues, we recognize the journey ahead is a marathon, not a sprint. The medical team overseeing Emma continues to emphasize the difficulties of the post-surgery recovery are expected. BUT the road to full recovery is longer than we were told pre-operation.

Emma spent 5 days at MCR and will now be transferred to an acute rehabilitation facility for the next 10-14 days. Originally, we were told she would spend 2-3 days in the hospital and then be discharged home.

After the rehabilitation facility, her medical team said we should expect At-Home Rehab visits for a week or two after.

I (Travis - Emma's husband) say all of this in hopes that you can better understand how complicated the next several weeks and months are going to be as we determine her next steps post-pathology. Given the ever-changing dynamic of the recovery process medical expenses are fluid right now. While we do not know specifics, we do expect treatment to extend into 2024 given doctors have confirmed the brain tumor is cancerous.

We are ever grateful for how the MealTrain donations exceeded the goal (in just two days!). But as we consider what is ahead we recognize the need to shift our focus to medical expenses.
