Help Hamza's Family Escape Gaza Crisis
Donation protected
Hello, I am Hamza Samir, a 4th year law student.
I am part of a family of 11 who now live in northern Gaza. We have been repeatedly displaced from one area to another in hopes of finding a safe place, but to no avail.
The danger is very close to us. Including the fear, terror, anxiety and tension, bombing and destruction, hunger and thirst. We have lost hope in life! We’ve been experiencing very difficult conditions: no clean water, no electricity, no food. There have been days when we had nothing to eat, and we were forced to eat animal feed! I no longer know what I will die from: whether I will die from bombing, hunger, or from diseases caused by pollution.
Our dreams have been shattered. Not only is my house no longer habitable, but my entire area! It’s as though an earthquake struck. Our home, our street, and all the beautiful memories it held has disappeared and nothing remains.
The electricity and water were cut off. We were able to live without electricity, but we could not live without water. My brothers and I would have to go get water from far away, it is very difficult and takes a long time.
We were really putting ourselves in danger. My brother Anas and I were moving under bullets and shells in order to get a bag of flour. We would carry it on our shoulders and walk long distances.
Anas was also exposed to trauma in his eye. He was supposed to travel to Egypt to receive medical treatment, but this war prevented him from traveling and he has lost his vision.
What hurts me the most in this war is my fear for my little sister, Asma. I have been really afraid that anything bad might happen to her, and I am still afraid for her now. She knew nothing and did not understand anything, but she was afraid of the sounds from the explosions.
This picture shows the place where I was going to fulfill my dream of graduating from university. This is the graduation hall! Three and a half years of study, fatigue and effort - I was burned here!
No words or pictures can convey the extent of the suffering that we’ve been through and are still going through right now. Truly, I do not want anything but to live a decent and happy life with my family.
This is my brother and I before the war.
Note that I never used to ask anyone for help before, but that has changed due to the curse of war, and my fear for my family. I hope that we will remain well until we leave Gaza, amidst the ongoing threat of bombing, hunger, and disease.
Every contribution, no matter how small, will make a profound difference in the lives of our family.
Thank you for your compassion, your empathy.
