Cycling to help KLABU rebuild the lives of refugees

Hallo, mijn naam is Laurens Jagt. Twee jaar geleden fietste ik alleen naar het WK voetbal in Qatar. Dit jaar fiets ik samen met Laban Duijnhouwer van Amsterdam naar Noorwegen om geld in te zamelen voor KLABU (www.klabu.org). Onderweg stoppen wij op twee belangrijke plaatsen:

Ter Apel, Nederland: Dit is het centrale opvangcentrum voor asielzoekers, waar KLABU een sportclubhuis heeft gebouwd voor alleenstaande minderjarige vreemdelingen die naar Nederland zijn gevlucht. Het clubhuis biedt sportfaciliteiten en workshops aan, waardoor asielzoekers over de hele wereld met elkaar en met Nederlanders in contact kunnen komen op een prettige en sportieve manier. Sport verbroedert!

Aangezien fietsen een groot onderdeel is van de Nederlandse cultuur en samenleving, willen we geld inzamelen om kinderfietsen aan te schaffen voor KLABU's sportclubhuis in Ter Apel. De donaties zullen ook worden gebruikt om fietslessen te verzorgen. Niet geheel onbelangrijk voor mensen die nog nooit op een fiets hebben gezeten :-)

Ons gezamenlijke doel met KLABU is om mensen te leren fietsen, hen te laten ervaren hoe fijn dit is, en zodoende hen te helpen zich sneller te laten integreren in de Nederlandse samenleving. In Ter Apel zullen wij daarom samen met het KLABU-team ook fietsworkshops geven aan alleenstaande minderjarigen.

Hamburg, Duitsland: We zullen een stop maken in Hamburg om het Nederlandse voetbalelftal te ondersteunen tijdens hun eerste wedstrijd van het EK.

Net als tijdens mijn reis naar Qatar, reizen wij met een tent en een voetbal in onze fietstassen. We hopen mensen onderweg te inspireren, en wij gaan proberen met zoveel mogelijk verschillenden mensen in contact te komen en met hun te voetballen. Sport verbroedert en laat ons inzien dat wij allemaal niet zo van elkaar verschillen!

Hi, my name is Laurens Jagt. Two years ago, I cycled alone to the World Cup in Qatar. This time, together with my friend Laban Duijnhouwer, I will cycle from Amsterdam to Norway to raise funds for KLABU (www.klabu.org). Along the way, we will stop at two important places:

Ter Apel, the Netherlands: This is the central reception center for asylum seekers in the Netherlands, where KLABU has built a sports clubhouse. The clubhouse provides sports activities and equipment, helping newly arrived unaccompanied minors from all over the world connect with each other and with Dutch people through the power of sports.

Given the importance of cycling in Dutch culture and society, we aim to raise funds to purchase bicycles for KLABU's sports clubhouse in Ter Apel. The funds will also be used to provide cycling training and education. Our goal is to help people find joy, learn how to cycle, and integrate more easily into Dutch society. In Ter Apel, we will also conduct a cycling clinic for unaccompanied minors, together with the KLABU team.

Hamburg, Germany: We will make a stop in Hamburg to support the Dutch football team during their first game of the Euro Cup.

Just like my trip to Qatar, we will travel with a tent and a football. We hope to bring joy to people along the way, connecting and playing football with as many people as possible.
