Kílas New Van
Donation protected
Kila's wheelchair can only take her so far - we need your help to buy a new van!
We all have problems when our cars break down, especially when living in rural Ireland and it's the only viable mode of transport, but when you rely on that vehicle to transport a wheelchair user, that problem gets super magnified.
My daughter Kila (11) has spina bifida and hydrocephalus and needs constant care from myself in terms of her physical care and well-being. Having suitable transport to enable grocery shopping and more pressing such as regular hospital appointments, is vital in keeping the show on the road.
We did have a van that had numerous issues and with half a million miles on the clock it recently gave up the ghost. Now we find ourselves really stranded and relying on a few friends that may have a suitable car and are strong enough to lift Kila within.
The van we're looking for does not have to be new, just reliable, be able to house a wheelchair and of course, be modified to assist Kila inside - I can no longer manage her transition, my back won't take it anymore.
So, with the awareness of so many deserving cases out there, I'm appealing too for some help, there are no transport grants available, but with the goodness of your collective hearts, we might just get there and give Kila some wings again.
Thank You,
Ciara
