We have 2 concerns that can use your prayers and help. First, my husband Don had bilateral pneumonia that went septic causing viral meningitis with a seizure on the 26th of August this year. He was unconscious for 3 days and stayed in the hospital for 11 days. He is slowly recovering but his strength is not coming back as fast as we hoped. This is the 2nd time he has had seizures due to a viral meningitis in 5 years. The neurologist believes this is because of a weakened immune system due to the chemo he received for luekemia 15 years ago. Don is likely off work for a total of 3 months and cannot drive for 6 months. Family is helping to cover most of what Employment Insurance doesn't. I cannot ask them for any more. We are a 2 income family but I am finding it very difficult to work between looking after, not only my husband but also our 16 year old son.
Noah was diagnosed with a branchial cleft cyst on the side of his neck in early September. I had first taken him to the doctor on the 28th of August- while my husband lay unconscious in the hospital. These cysts are usually moderately invasive, however, Noah's had grown from the size of half a golf ball at end of August to larger than half a pear here in early October. It now extends from his collarbone to his jaw and back to almost his spine. He has constant headaches and infection. He is on his third batch of antibiotics but still has fevers almost every day. He had to quit work in early September. Cannot drive because he cannot turn his neck, and is missing more and more school. The suggested course of treatment is to remove the cyst. We met with the surgeon last week who said it would be 6-8weeks before he could get it removed. He is in agony most days. I am a self employed drapery/ upholstery seamstress and usually just work part time. The stress of their conditions is only compounded by the stress of paying our bill's, as I haven't been able to work much. As Noah gets sicker, I am going to need to take some time off to look after my boys. I need to prioritize my family. This is why we are asking for help from you. I did not come to this decision lightly. It's been through a lot of tears and prayer. Many people ask me how they can help. I always say prayer, but prayer has lead me to ask you all for your financial help as well. May you all be blessed for your love and kindness. Thank you Arlene Klassen
