Help support our Dream to travel to the Disney International Cup 2017
Please help us raise the funds to get our STARS team and our awesome leader Coach, Oscar Cerda to the Disney International Cup in July!!
The STARS are a small independent team out of Spring, TX without the financial backing/marketing that a large club has. The STARS have worked hard under Coach Oscar Cerda’s tutelage and would benefit greatly from playing against the many international teams this tournament attracts. Most of the STARS players are beginning play with their respective high schools and this tournament will be a chance for them to showcase their talents against teams they have never faced before. This will give the girls an opportunity for the girls to prepare for college recruiting showcases.
Klein STARS History: The Klein STARS Independent soccer team was founded back in 2010 by Coach Oscar Cerda. He began coaching his daughters from the very beginning of their soccer careers. Since then, he has coached his team to numerous victories over the years. His passion for the sport and dedication to the advancement of players is unmatched. Oscar himself is an EX Chilean National Team Professional Soccer Player. To this day he plays in Men’s soccer leagues both indoor and outdoor. Oscar has no off switch when it comes to Soccer, he always finds a way to watch, play, or coach.
The STARS D1 U16 girls’ soccer team has been his main focus for the past 7 years. He has poured countless hours into training these girls AT NO CHARGE while maintaining an intense workload and family commitments of his own. Many seasons he has put forth his own hard earned money for equipment and other necessities for the team. He spends countless hours sending emails, scouting players and other teams and making sure each girl feels like part of the STARS family. This does not even begin to describe the energy and enthusiasm he displays as he works with the girls on the field!! His focus is never what he can get back from volunteering but what he can contribute to his athletes. He takes joy in seeing their progress and advancement in the sport. He has done this for so many years without financial compensation!!! Oscar is like Gatorade, always energized and ready to work for the next championship.
The STARS team has been approached by many major clubs like Challenge, Dynamos and RUSH to join their clubs. Oscar has chosen to keep the team intact because he knows the girls love playing together and he knows the financial burdens to the families when assimilating with a larger club. He has won many Championships and is now being sought out to train individual players and teams in addition to the STARS.
