Klinic Kids is a 501c3 non-profit organization that channels the power of sports to educate children on mental health and wellness.
This GoFundMe was created to raise awareness and funds to support the work we are doing this summer – bringing youth basketball programming and mental health education to under-resourced communities in New York City.
We are working on securing operational funds to execute five Klinic Kids events, which cost approximately $5k per camp. We will not be charging children to participate, and we will be partnering with local vendors to provide food, drinks, and merchandise. The remaining funds raised will go towards expanding our program to local school districts this fall, and to begin scheduling events for multiple cities in 2024.
Last year, we held our first one-day Klinic event in New Rochelle with over 2,500 people in attendance. Time was split between children's basketball training and an adult Pro-Am tournament for a cash prize of $50k. We partnered with local artists such as Nicki Minaj and Juelz Santana and received tremendous feedback from the community. We ran a separate Klinic Kids event in Elmont, Long Island this February.
This summer, we are hosting a Klinic Kids tour throughout the five boroughs of New York City (Manhattan, Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens & Staten Island). We hope to work with 150-200 children in each district and provide our unique blend of professional basketball instruction and mental health education.
At the end of the summer, all Klinic Kids participants will be invited to a larger Klinic Pro-Am event, hosted by NBA players (past and present) and local artists.
This project was spearheaded by Kashif "Kash" Hameed, a former professional basketball player, former Principal of Harlem Children's Zone Promise Academy, and founder of Kash Productions.
We have assembled a network of world-class trainers, educators, administrators, and mental health professionals to provide impactful programming for children. We offer professional-level basketball training with mental health and wellness education in a fun, high-energy environment. In addition to providing education and structure, we look to connect participants with local heroes to show them that achieving their dreams is possible with hard work.
Look out for our advertisements airing on MSG Network, run in association with New York State's May Mental Health Awareness Month.
