Walking for Wildlife
My daughter and I are walking to raise vital funds for wildlife rescue centres in Norfolk, we will be sharing any money raised between Foxy Lodge Wildlife Rescue in Hemsby and Wild Touch near North Walsham.
After the success we achieved with our 2020 walking challenge and with the pandemic continuing to adversely affect wildlife rescue centres, we wanted to make our 2021 challenge BIGGER!
So this year we are inviting others to join us in the 'Walking for Wildlife' challenge and help us raise another £500 for these 2 amazing places that help thousands of our local injured, abandoned or orphaned wildlife. COVID 19 has meant they have been doing this without the usual help of local volunteers and fundraising activities, which they usually rely upon to keep going. Baby season is also well under way and is a particularly busy time for the rescue centres.
During the many months of home schooling, we relied on walks to get us out of the house and there was no better way for my young keen animal lover to learn about her favourite furry and feathered friends than being able to watch hedgehogs, foxes, birds, squirrels and deer going about their daily activities whilst in their natural habitats.
So we've cleaned up our trainers, charged up our Fitbits and we are about to start walking again to continue to raise much needed funds so the centres can buy food, medication and other general supplies.
Hopefully we will get help to achieve our challenge of 2 million steps during May, which just happens to be National Walking month. Personally my daughter is aiming for 320,000 whilst I am taking on the challenge to complete a mammoth half million! It was tough last year, but this year we are back at school and work so the challenge will be even harder and will take dedication, early starts and late night walks to achieve.
Please, please do support us if you are able, every penny can make a difference to the animals and will spur us on when our feet are tired! If you want to help us by walking and promoting the challenge please visit our facebook page @dayswalkingforwildlife. On there I will be posting updates on our personal challenge progress, features on walks around the county, spotters guides, scavenger hunt sheets and wildlife craft activities to keep little ones busy.
many thanks
