KMUD News Director to Grassroots Radio Conference
Donation protected
Lauren Schmitt, KMUD’s dynamic News Director, needs some support with expenses for the Grassroots Radio Conference in Charleston, West Virginia. She has been invited to give a workshop on emergency response. She’s very motivated about this, being aware that climate change is increasing the number and intensity of emergencies we all must face. KMUD has made a big difference to our community during wildfires, snowstorms, power outages, and earthquakes, and Lauren wants to help other stations increase their effectiveness.
This conference October 19-22 is Lauren’s first chance to attend a Community Radio Conference in person, after 6 years of dedicated work for KMUD News. This fundraiser will cover the plane and hotel expenses. She plans to meet keynote speaker Amy Goodman and connect with many other resourceful community radio leaders — connections that can be useful for years to come in her service to Redwood Community Radio on the North Coast of California.
Here’s conference info - starting with Lauren’s workshop description:
Please join us in sending Lauren to this conference, and tell your friends!
Here the detail of the expenses we want to cover for her:
- Flight: 1,178
- Hotel: $260
- SFO Parking: $100

So $1,600 in total.
