Baby Kate Bassham Memorial
Donation protected
This is the Bassham Family. Lori, wife and mother, has been a dear friend since I was 6 years old. I met her not long after my adoption. Lori and her husband Troy have two boys; their youngest is their adopted child whom they thought for many years would always be their youngest. Then, just four months ago they were given the unexpected and exciting opportunity to experience the gift of adoption again - this time a baby girl who would be due in March this year.
As a family, they instantly fell in love with her - the thought of having a sweet little baby girl to add to the family put them over the moon. They painted the nursery in grey and pink for her, and jsut recently built the crib in preparation for her arrival. The love and excitement spilled out over social media sites to their friends and family each and every day. The boys made calendar rings to count down the final days until their baby sister arrived. There was only 51 days left. They named her. Kathryn "Kate" Ella Grace Bassham.
Tragically, on January 19 little Kate was delivered stillborn. Lori and her family are beside themselves with grief over the daughter they will never meet. On top of the devestation of the loss of their baby girl, they are faced with $30,000 in legal adoption fees that are non-refundable, as well as a burial service and memorial that they are paying for. Instead of welcoming Kate into the world in just over a month, they are faced with burying her tiny body this week.
I would love to see how we may come together, those who know Lori and those who may be perfect strangers, to help ease the blow of devestation this family is facing. We cannot bring Kate back, but perhaps we can ease the mass of financial strain that is heavy on their minds. It is the last thing they need in a time so tender with grief and loss. In the name of Kathryn Ella Grace, if you feel inclined, your donation will go to the Bassham family to assist with her memorial.
I thank you for your generosity and kindness to a friend I hold dear in my heart. It is hard to think of kinder, more humble, giving people than Lori and her husband Troy.
With Love,
Jayni
