Raising money for cancer treatment
Donation protected
Cancer treatment is prohibitively expensive as most of you already know. In my case I'm starting this journey with nothing, my car was totaled by someone who ran a red light , we had to wipe out our savings, and add it to the check from insurance to replace it. This was followed two weeks later by a surgery that was unrelated. Complicating this mess is the fact that we are less than half way through a Chapter 13 bankruptcy, with payments that are nearly a third of our income. Now starts three weeks of heavy chemo, followed by seven weeks of chemo plus radiation, then by a year of an immunotherapy drug. I'll probably start needing these funds before the end of August, as copays and coinsurance generally are needed at time of service. There are charity funds that support those needing assistance with cancer drugs, however at this time they are depleted for the year ( results of my digging so far). So until the funds are replenished we will not even be able to afford the coinsurance for the many follow up scans, I may be able to pay specialist copays though. The two drugs for the initial chemo treatments are tier 4 and I estimate I'll be in the Medicare doughnut hole before September with several weeks to go in that phase. If it is possible to do so I will keep you all informed of my progress.
