Hello, my name is Michele Murray and I live in the north of Scotland. I’ve had Multiple Sclerosis (M.S.) for 15 years now, and I’ve only recently heard about Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant (HSCT), which is a treatment designed to stop M.S. in its tracks permanently. It is aimed at rebooting my immune system using my own harvested stem cells. This is combined with a high dose of chemotherapy to kill off my existing failing immune system. My stem cells will be re-infused which will help to build a brand new immune system which is free from M.S.

I had to retire from work 8 years ago due to my M.S. At present I use a walking stick, rollator and wheelchair. I have fatigue, muscle spasms, balance problems, and weakness in my legs and arms. My M.S. is getting worse all the time, and I feel that if I don’t do something now, I am afraid it’ll be too late. It is such an invisible disease, I look fine on the outside, however on the inside, my immune system is attacking my central nervous system, and causing scarring (sclerosis) on my brain/spinal column.

I am hoping to go to The National Pirogov Medical Centre Russia (Moscow) to have HSCT. It is available in the U.K., however there is a very strict criteria that I don’t qualify for. To pay for this privately in the U.K., it would be twice the amount compared to Russia. In Russia it costs £42,000, and they have been doing this transplant treatment for a lot longer than the U.K. I hope I will be able to get this life-changing treatment so I can have a better quality of life. Thank you very much for taking the time to read this.
