Toxic mercury waste removal
Donation protected
Hi my name is Lili and I need to tell you about my dad. I need to raise $330,000.00.
The situation is long and very convoluted, involving multi stakeholders. Specifically my father Orlando Iluffi, EPA Victoria, PPB Advisory, CMA Corp (in Administration), Doug Rowe and his company Recycal
My elderly father (73 years of age) has had a bad run with health and business.
He has survived stage 4 bowel cancer, lost 70% of his liver to liver cancer and lost part of the bottom left of his lung to lung cancer.
In 2012, the recycling company across the road from us approached my father with a view to renting the factory on a month to month basis. We asked specifically what they wanted to store and we were told "scrap metal & broken glass". The tenants were great. Their rent was paid in time. All good yes?
No. It was not.
On 3rd August 2013, we were told the company would be placed ito administrtion. PPB Advisory contacted us & we were advised we could not enter the factory.
To my horror, the scrap metal & broken glass turned out to be highly toxic & hazardous mercury waste & the factory was full of pallets & barrels from top to bottom.
EPA Victoria became involved and served my father with Section 55(3D) which is a notice to identify occupier, This means that even though the waste is not ours, it's deemed ours as the property is in my father's name.
We have been in talks with the EPA about this for 3 long years.
We are lucky (if you can call this luck) that the clean up bill is only $330,000.00. The real cost should have been around the million dollar mark but Doug Rowe went above & beyond to help us out. This man was a total stranger who has not once asked us for anything. The $330,000.00 is a discounted amount.
Please help us. Share this story with as many people as you can. I am desperate to ensure my father doesn't lose everything. Both our factory & the second one are mortgaged to Westpac. We do not have surplus cash stashed away, even though certain people have alluded that we do have this kind of money. We don't.
My dad is still working full time, even at his age. We have forgone wages to make payments for the disposal of the mercury waste.
The situation is dire. We cannot do this with out financial help.
Full details will be up on Facebook. I want to be as transparent as I can with you. Medical records, photos & full inventory will be loaded to the Facebook page.
Thank you.
