Alicia Fisher's battle with Breast Cancer

Donation protected
UPDATE: It has been determined that I need chemo and will do eight rounds. I started round one August 31st and will finish in December. Next will be radiation. Currently I have my insurance benefits covered through December 4th and will be applying for an extension. I am currently an unpaid employee. Any and all help makes a huge difference to pay my bills and pay my deductible next year for continues treatment.

Hi, my name is Alicia Fisher. I am almost 37 years old. I am a mother of three amazing kids and a partner to the most incredible man I have ever met. Two years ago, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Cancer. I had to have a double mastectomy. This was the most excruciating pain I have ever experienced, with over 70 staples in my chest and 4 drains. It took six reconstructive surgeries to get them back. It’s been emotionally draining, losing your breasts as a woman changed me. I often felt like a manikin, I felt weak and disfigured. Through therapy and incredible support, I was finally accepting that part of me. I felt finally I could move forward with my health and my body. I was even about to get my chest tattooed to cover the scars with beautiful flowers since I no longer have nipples. Two weeks before that tattoo appointment, I found out the cancer had come back. It’s back. I had a lumpectomy Wednesday, August 2nd, where they removed my implant and placed in an expander. Another scar just means another story I can look at with gratitude that I survived. Unfortunately, I got a call this Monday that they did not get all the cancer out and I am going back into surgery on Wednesday, August 8th.
During this time, I am unable to work. I am able to keep my benefits and have qualified for some short-term disability, but for more than a few weeks, I will go unpaid. I hate asking for help, I hate asking for money even more. I am honored that the recovery community, which I am so grateful to be a part of, is doing a softball tournament to help. Bills are adding up fast.

There is a solution and I am grateful to be surrounded by it. This is just where I am at, all and any help makes a world of difference. And if donating is not something you can do, I would ask that you would be extra kind to a stranger today and know that you are loved. Thank you for reading this. I will update you regarding procedures and treatments. I have surgery this afternoon. Thank you- Always in love
