On Thursday, July 27th, 2023, my sister Jennifer was diagnosed with Stage 2B Cervical Squamous Cell Carcinoma. Her tumor is currently at 6cm in size and will require extensive chemo radiation therapy as this stage does not allow her to opt for surgical removal. Jen is a loving daughter, sister, auntie, friend, and colleague who prides herself on the powers of healing energy through self-care and massage therapy. I was in shock to receive this news and our family is overwhelmed with the many processes of moving forward with holistic approaches, western medical treatment, and ultimately recovery. Jennifer is currently uninsured and unable to work due to her profession as a massage therapist. She is unable to be in close physical contact with many different immune systems as her own is currently high-risk. As we wait to here back from Charity Care, we are trying to figure out ways to get her treatments started right away. We are reaching out to close and distant family, friends, and colleagues to help Jen throughout this emotionally challenging and overbearing moment in time. No amount is ever too little, and kind words and gestures are always appreciated. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
