While many were at the beach or at a cookout this Memorial Day weekend - our cadets toured the USS Bataan on Saturday and marched in the 7th Regiment Parade to place wreaths at the WWI monument on Fifth Avenue.

This past week was also a memorable week for the Greys with 2 news articles and one radio interview featuring the Greys Armory Battle.

Background:

The Greys - the oldest after-school organization in the country founded in 1881 - teaches kids confidence, leadership and patriotism!

Almost two years ago, the Conservancy (a Park Avenue Armory tenant) filed a lawsuit to evict the children of the Knickerbocker Greys from their basement headquarters - and their home for over 120 years! In 1902 we were invited by Colonel Appleton of the 7th Regiment in 1902 and now one of the tenants of the Armory wants to kick the kids out. NY Civil Court Docket: Conservancy v.

Victory would be a permanent lease directly with the State of New York - the true landlord! A lease directly with the State would allow the kids to continue their weekly classes and events and maintain our small basement headquarters in the Park Avenue Armory’s 200,000 sq. ft. space.
