If you don’t know who Alex Fuller is, let us introduce you to a young man who could greatly benefit from your support.
On August __, 2020 Alex endured a traumatic experience. An experience that unfortunately was at the hands of someone with whom he should have been able to trust most.
Alex, like many teenagers, experiences his life through relationships made on social media. This is where Alex could find friends, make connections and take part in a like minded community. However on this particular occasion his social media was not a safe haven, but rather the location of a humiliating and degrading trauma.
You see Alex is a young transgender man, and on this August evening Alex’s social media was infiltrated by his mom. His mom took this opportunity to publicly instruct anyone and everyone in Alex’s life to refer to him by his dead-name and intentionally mis-gender him.
This instance led to the video being spread widely on tik tok and other social media prompting the hashtag #hisnameisalex.
Along with the hashtag concerned citizens contacted local authorities to request wellness checks on Alex to identify if other emotional or physical abuse may be happening in the home.
As of right now there is an open DCFS investigation into Alex’s home and situation. There is particular concern for Alex’s safety as his mother has prior legal run-ins with children's services.
Where all this leaves us today is that Alex’s future is unknown, but it is likely to be very difficult regardless of the outcome.
Option A: He stays with his mother which could obviously be very damaging.
Option B: He is removed from the home and placed with a family member who may or may not be any better than his mom.
Option C: He is removed from the home and placed in foster care which may be better but also could lead to additional trauma for Alex.
As a result of all of this several efforts were made online to try and bring awareness and hopefully support to Alex, including an online petition which has over 150,000 signatures.
Still there are many people (maybe including you) that wish they could do more, and here is your chance.
What we have done is set up a trust fund in Alex’s name. This fund will be overseen by roughly 4 board members that will have the ability to distribute money directly to Alex in an effort to ease the inevitable struggles he is likely to face in the upcoming years. Examples of how this money may be used include: education, health care, transportation, legal expenses, and more.
As mentioned before 150,000 people have signed a petition to support Alex. If just roughly 1 in 7 of those people donated $1 we could easily raise over $20,000 that could literally change the trajectory of this young man's life from something tragic and traumatic to something hopeful and promising. We hope you will consider supporting Alex.
Thank you
