The Hardy Family

My name is Josie Straley and I am fundraising for my sister and brother in law, Michel & Andrew Hardy. On Saturday August 26th, their daughter, Amelia Hardy was admitted to the hospital with low O2 saturations. She was diagnosed with Adenovirus and Rhinovirus. Due to Amelia having very small nasal passages and being a preemie, she was struggling to breathe. By Monday a breathing tube and central line were placed as Amelia went into cardiac arrest and could no longer breathe on her own. Her lungs were very sick. She has been on a ventilator since August 28th and has had two more cardiac arrest episodes. The longest episode was 30 minutes long, and left Amelia with a TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury). We’re hoping for all of the best for our sweet Amelia.

Michel is a stay at home mom due to the medical fragility of both Amelia and her sister, Fiona. The doctors have told her they are not comfortable with the girls attending daycare until their immune systems are stronger. With all of the events that have taken place, Amelia’s father Andrew has had to miss a lot of work. This has left them in a bit of a financial struggle. The cost of having a child in the hospital has taken a toll on them financially. Any money raised will go towards medical expenses, gas, and food, so Michel can stay at the hospital with Amelia, and they can continue to care for their other daughter Fiona.
