Koda's Spinal Surgery
Donation protected
Hi everyone! Our little Koda had to have a very intensive surgery on her spine. She started with some weakness in her rear legs that quickly progressed to her inability to use her hind legs at all. She still had some feeling in them but couldn't move them at all. We took her to the specialty vet, and the neurologist did an MRI and found she had bruising and bleeding along her spinal cord, likely from a disc herniation. They thought with medication and time her body would be able to heal; however, she only got worse. By morning, she had lost all feeling in her hind legs. They repeated the MRI and found the herniated disc had worsened and found 2 additional mild herniations of other discs. They immediately took her into surgery. The surgery went well! She isn't out of the woods yet and recovery will be very long and hard. She will not be able to walk for weeks but may regain mobility eventually. I am truly blessed to work in this field and for the company I do, as they are offering me a discount. However, all of her treatments run up to $10,000. I felt we had no choice but to try; she's not even 4 and has so much life to live, so we went for it. She is the best girl and means the absolute world to us. We're hoping for a full recovery, but only time will tell. If you can donate, please do.
