Kody's Life Journey Continues

My son Dakota (Kody) Evans is in the ICU at a trauma center in San Bernardino, California, and his life has forever changed. Once a wandering free spirit traveling the country with his dog, playing his guitar, and meeting other free spirits, is now facing a change that has left him broken both emotionally, and physically, and all because of the poor choice someone else decided to make.

On December 11th, a driver under the influence lost control of her car, drove off the highway, down a steep embankment, through a fence, and onto Kody while he slept camping under a tree.

His injuries from the accident include a broken spine/severed spinal cord, lacerated liver, broken ribs, and collapsed lungs. His injuries have left him paralyzed from the waist down. The amazing medical team worked feverishly to save his life and is working to build his lung capacity and overall strength so he can be transported from San Bernardino, California to a hospital near Cincinnati, Ohio where he will have the love and support of family. The injuries were so severe, he has been dubbed “The miracle ICU man” by all the ICU staff at the hospital.

The preliminary report shows the driver was driving without insurance and as you can imagine, the expense of returning my boy home and all future care will likely be astronomical, thus why this campaign has been established. Kody could use the support both financially and emotionally. Please don’t feel obligated to contribute, but if you feel compelled to help, the monetary donation will be greatly appreciated and used for Kody’s needs as he works through these life-changing events.
