Koko & Ndume Got a New Roof !!!

Tax deductible
THANKS TO YOUR SUPPORT, WE REACHED OUR GOAL OF $35,000!  This was achieved through a combination of approximately $27,000 raised here on GoFundMe, and another $8,000+ raised on our website, koko.org, via generous donors like you!

You can view photos of the new roof, its construction, and gorillas Koko and Ndume enjoying the benefits, on The Gorilla Foundation's News Blog:

During this very stormy winter in Northern California, we here at The Gorilla Foundation had to overcome many challenges to provide our gorillas with the best care possible — including torrential downpours, hail storms, extremely high winds, falling trees, and multiple power outages.

In fact, the winds were high enough to blow shingles off the roofs and tear down trees!  Our caregivers and volunteers persevered through multiple road closures and extremely treacherous mountain road conditions to ensure they were able to be there for Koko and Ndume daily.  Fortunately,  no damage to the gorillas' quarters was incurred, and  now  — thanks to your support — we will be replacing their roofs (this month) so that our facility can endure many more winters like this, if necessary.

Stay tuned for construction updates and photos of Koko and Ndume's new roofs in the coming weeks, both here and on Koko.org and our social media pages (see below).

Thank you all very much!!!

Original Fundraising Campaign (Now Closed):
Urgent: Koko and Ndume need a new Play Yard roof to resist the torrential rains that have unexpectedly hit Northern California this year!

Koko enjoys the freshly rejuvenated grass after a heavy rain.

Hello Gorilla Foundation friends!!

We are reaching out on this platform, because we are in urgent need of your help.   After many weeks of rain and hail storms in Northern California (and the anticipation of more to come), the roof to Koko and Ndume’s play yard and sleeping quarters needs replacing, as it has sustained damage from the very heavy water flow.

Replacement of the gorilla roof has become an urgent necessity, but it is also a financial burden as this was not anticipated in our annual budget. We estimate that it will cost us approximately $35,000 to replace the roof over the gorilla’s play yard and sleeping quarters.  The costs for these roofing projects are broken down as follows:

Gorilla Sleeping Quarters Roofs: $12,880
Outdoor Play Yard Roof: $19,120
New Custom Gutters for Roofs: $1,000
Unforeseen Construction Costs: $2,000

To enable Koko and Ndume  to continue enjoying their covered outdoor enclosure, please make a donation of any size today, and help us pay for these urgently needed repairs!

Please know that when you donate to this campaign you will be directly affecting the lives of both Koko and Ndume. We will share the results - Koko and Ndume enjoying their newly re-covered play yard - so that you can see the significant impact of your donations.

Thank you for your continued support!
