Facing your fears and following your dreams can be scary but it's not as scary as the consequences you face if you ignore your dreams and let fear control your life. This is just one of the things my coach has taught me over the course of the past 17 months. Since then, I've faced my fears, learned how to swim across the pool (while pulling a parachute, with my feet strapped together), and risked the pain of failure by setting big goals and following the path of my dreams.

With the help and support of more people than I could have imagined, this path recently took me to the Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Australia in 2016. When I crossed the finish line in Australia, I immediately realized that I was suppose to do a full ironman- 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, 26.2 mile run. I presented the idea of doing Ironman Texas to my coach, who told me to get signed up. It's like we both suddenly forgot that I was currently injured and unable to do any sort of training. Regardless, I came home from Australia and signed up for Ironman Texas, subjecting myself to six months of grueling training by day and uncountable race-day nightmares by night.

Well, I've been told that amazing things begin to happen when you give as much energy to your dreams as you do your fears, and this past Saturday, April 22, I competed in Ironman Texas, won my age group, and qualified to compete in the Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii on October 14. It was the culmination of everyone's support and encouragement and the uncountable hours of training and sacrifices that lead to everything coming together at the perfect time to make it all possible.

I would not have been able to accomplish these dreams by myself, and I've had a huge team of support encouraging me along the way. I'm asking for you to be a part of this team as I raise funds to help get me and my coach to the starting line in Kona. If left to myself, I'll buckle under the stress of trying to tie my shoes on race day and resort to drinking cocktails on the beach, so I'll need my coach there to push me into the water on October 14 to make these dreams a reality.

Thank you for your consideration and for supporting my dream.
