Kora's Pelvic Surgery & Medical Bills
Donation protected
Hi everyone, my name is Nathan Starnes and I'm fundraising for my sweet girl Kora.
Kora got out of the house yesterday (10/11) while I was at work and was seen crossing a street where she was then struck by a car and injured. The people who accidentally struck her stopped and made sure she was taken care of, and a very kind man by the name of Sam sat by her for three hours and gave her water until Animal Services could respond.
Although this is a terribly unfortunate event I am just thankful Kora is still alive and stable.
She is currently at the Sage Veterinary Center in Concord, CA.
I was there until midnight waiting outside for updates, after all X-rays and exams they determined she needs surgery to repair her pelvic bone.
The surgery estimate I received from the doctor over the phone last night was between $7-9K.
(Update: after a more thorough exam and additional x-rays they now expect the surgery to be anywhere from $15-18K)

Rehabilitation costs are unknown, but they estimate a 4-6 month recovery time with regular checkups and medications if all goes to plan.
The team at Sage is currently putting together a plan for surgery so I will update here as soon as I can.
Thank you so much for reading this and sharing around.
Sincerely,
Nathan
