Korbin's Wish for other sick kids

Donation protected
Hello Family/Friends, new and old,

Our goal is to raise money to be able to build PlayStation / Xbox Gaming Systems for kids who are in hospital. With all challenges that these kids go through, our mission is to be able to ease their time spent in hospital as well as give the parents, caregivers, and even hospital staff a much-needed break.

Coming from a parent that spent a significant amount of time in the hospital with my son, I know how important it is for sick kids to have something to keep their minds off what they are dealing with. My son Korbin was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy at birth, he passed away in October of 2021. I miss him every day. The last time he was in the hospital before he passed, he told me he wanted me to give back to other sick kids. He had a heart of gold and wanted to help others, who like him were in hospital for extended periods of time. While he was in the hospital being able to play on his PlayStation gave him the distraction he needed from his illness, and he would play for hours. It also gave his mother and I the much needed “breaks” as it is very hard to keep kids occupied for long periods of time in a hospital setting.

It has taken me over a year to be able to feel strong enough to begin what I believe is a very important project to benefit the kids as well as the parents/caregivers. My focus at this time is to update the current system at the Children’s Hospital HSC has but if we come together as a community then we can send some of these units to other hospitals in Manitoba. I would also like to see Northern Nursing Stations receive them as kids sometimes have to wait to be transported to larger hospitals. That can be a very scary feeling for them, and this could help take the focus off the wait.

I have set up a Facebook page for updates as we raise money, see link below. We will be looking for volunteers to help build the units as I want 100 percent of funds raised, minus the small fees from the Go Fund Me page to go into the parts of the gaming systems. The more we can build, the more children we can help. My goal is to raise $100,000.00. When looking at our budget, the PS-5 unit is approximately $2,500.00 per unit and the Xbox unit is approximately $2,000.00 currently. I truly believe that combined with shopping locally as well as donations of products I can bring these number down so we can cover more hospitals, helping more sick kids and their families.

I would like to Thank you in Advance and want to remind you that no donation is too small. If you can’t make a donation, I welcome volunteers to help build the units as we get the parts.
