Korena's Recovery Assistance
Donation protected
Three weeks ago I found myself on my knees screaming at the top of my lungs for God to have mercy on my baby sister Korena and let her live. My sister Korena Neal gave birth to a beautiful healthy baby boy, Bowen Banks Neal on May 24th. However, Korena had lost a significant amount of blood, she started to feel off with tingling in her fingers, toes, brain fog, and wasn't able to think clearly. She decided to go to the ER to be seen. There were many back and forth ER and Ambulance rides over the course of a few days. All levels that were tested for came back “normal” she was told it was anxiety, lack of sleep, and nutrition causing these issues. Later we will learn was not the case. During those visits she had two separate blood transfusions with no success of symptoms resolving, but getting worse. Finally, the hospital noticed her sodium was in critical status. Unfortunately "worst case scenario" occurred and she had a seizure resulting in my Strong, fiercely independent, healthy sister fighting for her life. Korena was sent to the ICU with critically low sodium at 107, normal is 135 she was then sedated and placed on a ventilator. She was strapped down in a hospital bed unconscious for days, Korena needed a miracle (Gosh writing this is hard! insert ugly cry face and praise God hands) Korena had an intense level of Hyponatremia which sends the body into complete shock and made Korena unable to speak, move her mouth, or swallow. Mind you her husband was now a full time newborn caretaker along with their 2 year old son. Seeing his wife in that state everyday and none of us knowing what the next hour was going to bring was pure torture. Thankfully after about 6 days her body “started working” THANK YOU LORD! She started to produce sodium with the help of some minor interventions and she could go home. However, Korena is not completely out of the woods and needs to continue recovery = weekly blood draws, tests, doctors appointments etc. She still is battling fatigue, vision impairment, lack of energy, focus, sleep (with a newborn and 2 year old) The reason for this gofundme is to help her while she is recovering. She is unable to work her business the way she needs too, drive, and do the daily tasks around her homestead. She needs help. Her husband already works full time and has a side business cleaning pools. Korena is unable to drive for 6 months due to the seizure. Living 1 hour from Jacksonville and 2.5 miles off a dirt road makes grocery delivery not an option. Korena and Wade have some great friends who have made many trips and meals but this can be taxing on just a few folks. These funds will help with meal prep, gas for delivering groceries, many out of pocket expenses such as supplements, meals, gas, help with childcare and cleaning. Here are a few options to think about! 1.) Sponsor one week of meal prep for Korean is $140.00 2.) Sponsor one tank of gas $50.00 3.) Sponsor one month of supplements for recovery $148.00 5.) Help with cleaning and babysitting $70.00 per week We are asking our friends and family if they could to give a few bucks towards any of these causes and help ease the stress of finances and energy. Thank you so much for reading, praying, and giving to this hardworking selfless family!
