Kori Kicking Cancer

Kori Kicking Cancer

No one is ever prepared to hear the word cancer when they go for a doctor visit.   Kori, our daughter and niece, is a beautiful 31 year old mother of 3.  Kaiden is 11, Mariah is 5 and CJ is going to be 2 on August 19.  Kori was diagnosed with poorly differentiated invasive ductal carcinoma triple negative breast cancer on July 14.  Kori has a 2cm tumor in her right breast that they are going to aggressively treat with chemo in attempt to shrink it prior to performing a double mastectomy.  As is the nature of this diagnosis, Kori is needing to act rapidly, requiring countless doctor visits, procedures, and medications. These costs will add up quickly and we are trying to reduce the financial stress so Kori can focus on what is important- kicking cancer’s ass! She is forever grateful for the outpouring of love and support many of you have already extended through cards, calls, texts and especially prayers.  They have meant the world to her.  We are an extremely close family and Kori will have our support throughout this fight, along with the support of close family friends.  Kori is going to attack this disease head on with lots of support and encouragement.  She wants to see her children grow up, experiencing all the milestones we dream of for our kids.  This year is a busy time for our family with Kaiden starting middle school and Mariah starting Kindergarten.

We are setting up this fund to support Kori and her children as she prepares for the fight of her life.  Kori will be starting 20 weeks of aggressive rounds of chemotherapy on Aug. 2nd.  She will then have surgery (or surgeries), and possibly radiation as determined by the success of the chemo, nature of the cancer and results of the lymph node tests.   The doctor has advised that the next year will be hard, but Kori is young and strong and a fighter.  As life curveballs tend to do,  Kori started a new job which she loves at Lutheran Family Services on May 15th, was excited about Kaiden starting middle school and Mariah signing up to cheer for little league football like she had done when she was young, when she noticed a lump in her breast and after tests and a biopsy discovered this tumor was in fact cancer.  Her boss and coworkers at Lutheran Family Services have been amazing and so supportive.  They assure Kori that her job will be safe throughout her treatment plan.  Much of her time out of work will be, however, without pay.

As many of you can imagine, this diagnosis and treatment  brings immense medical costs, and for that reason, we are asking for your help. These funds will be used to help defray medical costs: deductibles, co-pays, and many of the additional fees not covered by insurance. Kori and her children will also need lots of support with additional childcare, housekeeping, healthy meals, rides, groceries and whatever it takes to keep their home running smoothly while Kori undergoes treatment. We will also put these contributions toward any other essentials to help keep Kori strong, comfortable, and healthy over the coming months so she can get back to her busy life raising her 3 beautiful children.

We are forever grateful for your support and prayers.
