Hello everyone,
I have been asked to open this GoFundMe for Korrie. Korrie is a long time resident of Cabo, known to many as Mary Poppins, always with a smile and so easy to talk to. Everyone that knows her, loves her. She suffered a debilitating stroke the first week of January, it was misdiagnosed as a migraine headache. It was not until her daughter (Coral) noticed she had forgotten the simplest information; the code for her phone, the pin number on her credit card and the names of her dogs. Coral made an appointment for an EKG, they saw a blood clot and signs of a stroke. Korrie was rushed to H+ at 11pm on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 After bringing a doctor from La Paz, he put a camera thru her artery to look at the damage from the stroke and discovered 2 aneurysms on January 13. She was sent home with blood thinners and other treatments. The brain surgery was scheduled for January 26, 2024 Korrie woke up from anesthesia, was talkative and ate a meal. The surgeon made her rounds the next morning and discovered her right eye was completely dialated and her right arm was fully extended and stiff, she was unresponsive. Korrie was rushed back into surgery to place a tube in her brain to drain an excess amount of fluid. This fluid is normally absorbed by the body, but in this case, it built up in her brain. The doctor recommended putting her in a coma to rest and recover. After 5 days in an induced coma, they began waking her up. They removed her drain on February 4, there was no fluid accumulating and Korrie was stable. I visited her on February 5, I was so happy to see her smile, her eyes were bright and we held hands. She was only able to whisper very quietly due to the intibation. We all felt it was a big win!! The following morning the doctor went in to wake her and she unresponsive, once again she was rushed to the OR to put another drain, this one is more permanent and the fluid will drain into her stomach. She currently in the ICU, it is apparent she is not moving her right arm (we don't know about her leg) and will require intensive therapy both at the hospital and when she returns home. Her husband Chiro, is making modifications to the house in order to allow Korrie to live downstairs for an indefinite amount of time. She will be unable to work for a very long time and even though she has medical insurance, not everything will be covered.

At this time, only family members are able to visit. We will update on her progress and let everyone know when she has been moved and can have visitors.

All funds donated will be given to her daughter, Coral, who has been a rock of support to everyone during the last 4 weeks.

In the meantime, please continue to pray and, if you are able, please donate for our beautiful Korrie.
