Manuel Cruz III-Funeral Expenses
Donation protected
My dad was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer 2 years ago. It had spread to his stomach and lungs. For a long time before he was finally diagnosed we all knew he was sick in some way. He had had problems with his health throughout his life and we believed any health issues he had stemmed from his heavy consumption of alcohol. He tried several times to overcome this problem, and it wasn't until he was diagnosed that he was really ready. From then his whole outlook on life changed. He was different, and he wanted to be closer to God and closer to his family, especially his grandchildren. He was always in my life and helped in raising his oldest granddaughter from the time she was 5 months old. He and her created a bond that I will always be grateful for. These past few months were hard knowing that this moment was getting closer, but there was no way we could have ever really been ready for it. He was a loving person with a big heart. He loved playing the drums and he loved spending time with family. And even through his failing health he continued to take care of his mom. In the conversations I had with my dad during his last few months with us, I learned that he just wanted peace with everyone he loved. He wanted love and forgiveness. Saying good-bye is never easy and if his passing taught me anything, it was to love and forgive and to spend as much time as you can with those you love. That was all he wanted, to spend as much time as he could with the ones he loved. Unfortunately, we were not able to financially prepare for his funeral expenses and are humbly asking for any amount of help to give my dad a proper homegoing and a chance for family and friends say their final farewells. Thank you for taking the time to read and thank you for your help!
