Alibi Goes to NYU!

Dear Donators,

My name is Alibi, I'm 17, from Kazakhstan. I'm an incoming sophomore at NYU Shanghai. I finished my freshman year remotely because of the pandemic situation in Shanghai and financial difficulties. My intended major is Computer Science. Due to the Hackathon NASA App Space, I was inspired by the goal of learning front-end development, began to study the materials myself, and wrote pet projects for practice. I recently completed a summer boot camp from nFactorial School, the program is fully paid and I don't have to pay for it.

My experience:

-Android developer trainee in KAZSPACE:

I was responsible for developing the android app that related to ecology.

-Grantly.Academy Internship:

I was responsible for fixing problems in CRM servers for managers and was a mentor to students applying to American colleges.

-English teacher:

Taught English to students Individually (from elementary to pre-intermediate).

-Speaking Club:

Founder of the speaking club “Let’s Speak”. 200+ participants that practiced their English.

-Case-Competition:

We took 3rd place in a business competition where we created a business model for “ioka” - a fintech startup.

-Member of nFactorial Incubator'22:

nFactorial Incubator is the largest tech Bootcamp in Central Asia led by Princeton U graduate, FAANG engineers.

Built a full-stack website to show what we learned for this summer using JavaScript, DOM, Events, JQuery, Bootstrap, NPM & Local storage, React.JS, Lifecycle, useEffect, Client-server, HTTP, JSON, MongoDB, Express.js, Cheerio.js, Puppeteer.js.

Currently:

-Member of Undergraduate Business Association in NYU Shanghai;

-Member of NYU institute of entrepreneurial

-Front-End Developer & UI/UX Designer Intern in Shoptaki:

Shoptaki is a startup that is building new type of technology called Smartchain, it takes the concept of blockchain to the next level by utilizing collaborative A.i to not only make the system dynamic but also analyze and automate many process. The system has wide range use cases: Decentralized Identity management, KYC, quantum encryption, predictive analytics, automation, the possibilities are endless with the Smartchain technology. The Startup is located in New York. This is unpaid internship for me where I will intern about 6 months.

Current situation

I was allowed to study remotely for this semester, Fall'22. The reason is pandemic situation in China. I've signed an agreement with university to split my payment plan for this semester. I paid the 50% of tuition = $937.5. I have to pay another 50% during this semester. Tuition costs - $1875 per semester. Now, I'm looking for fundings for the Spring semester.

What about money?

My scholarship is $54.300 per year, it covered my tuition for the first year, but tuition increases every year. I have to pay for tuition - $1875, insurance - $1414, +95.84 euros will take GoFundMe for service. Total - $3289 for the Spring semester. I'm going to work on campus and intend to cover the part of expenses that do not include the total price that I mentioned above. Unfortunately, my family can not afford to pay for my education. I'm working in the unpaid internship, but searching for opportunities to earn money. I focus on the studies that will give me opportunities to explore a computer science major.

I graduated from Public School in Kazakhstan when I was 16 and enrolled in my dream university. I support students from the same backgrounds with admission to US universities from time to time. I share my own experience and want to help them. I can say more than this; I know guys who were accepted to NYU Shanghai due to my support.

In my turn, I can offer you to help build a website or help put together a team to develop a product.

As I said before, my family cannot support my education right now. That's why I need YOUR support! With your donations, I can go to Shanghai and study on-campus. So, dear friends, I will be immensely thankful to YOU for helping me achieve the goal.
