Broken air conditioner

Hello all. I have been without a/c in my car for a few months. Since I have been recovering from surgery, I haven’t been able to work so I have been eeking by, also, for a couple months now. Since Peter works in Austin, I have to drive myself to cardio rehab and other appts. Today the heat got up to 113 degrees. All I can think is that I don’t want to become a summer statistic of people who perished in the heat. I am pretty close to being out of options for funds. My car needs a compressor which runs anywhere from $500-$800 dollars, for the part alone. I hate to ask but please help me not to be a summer statistic. Much appreciation in advance for your help.
